Coastal Cruise: Orange County

Distance: 37 miles one way

Few scenic drives in California are more classic than Highway 1. You really can’t go wrong as you meander along this gorgeous stretch of coastline—just make sure to roll your windows down and turn your music up!

The Route:

Simply hop onto Highway 1, also known as Pacific Coast Highway or PCH, and make your way north.

Along the Way:

Sugar Blossom Bake Shop: Fuel up with sugar (hey, you’re on vacation) at this charming bakery in San Clemente serving everything from cupcakes to ice cream—all made fresh onsite each day!

The Ocean Institute: Learn all about the underwater world and California maritime history through fun and interactive family activities at this non-profit organization located in Dana Point.

Monarch Beach: This beautiful beach in Dana Point is open to the public and features a large rock on the north end that’s prime for bird watching, and where you can often spot napping seals.

Picnic Spot:

Pull over for lunch at Crystal Cove State Park and take in the salty ocean air along with stunning views of the Pacific.

After all the fun out on the open road, circle back for a relaxing stay at San Clemente Cove with  spacious accommodations just steps away from the beach and iconic San Clemente pier!
